Shinsuke Nakamura, one of the Big Three stars in New Japan, formally announced his departure from the promotion at a press conference on Monday.

Nakamura, who formally stripped of the IWGP Intercontinental Title at the press conference, talked about his decision to leave Japan to advance his career.

Nakamura did not specifically say he has signed with WWE, but he noted that he feels like he has been “stuck in a rut” after helping elevate New Japan as one of the top stars.

Nakamura will end his New Japan run on January 29 and 30. The main event on Jan. 30 will be his farewell show.
